France: New build in Languedoc

Property developments in the south of France

Not everyone wants to do up an old stone cottage in the middle of nowhere. Which is why property develop-ments are proving so popular in Languedoc, and in France generally. They offer an 'instant', no-hassle home, usually with lots of like-minded neighbours. And if it's a second home (and most properties on prop-erty developments are), it will probably offer the possibility (through leaseback schemes) of having your property rented out as a gite by a management company.

Many of the property developments on offer in Languedoc also offer central facilities, such as a golf course, tennis courts, spa, restaurant and clubhouse, all adding to the experience. They're also surprisingly varied - from inexpensive little pink boxes on an 'estate' to renovated hamlets and convents with much of the original features maintained.

But buying a property on a property development in Languedoc, south France, can be confusing and compli-cated. So to help you make the most of your hunt and not waste time barking up the wrong trees, we've compiled a number of really useful articles (listed to the right) that help you get your head around buying new-builds and renovated property on property developments in the region. Everything from pricing, to legal issues to how to tell which developments really offer good value.
