Greece: Retirement

Overview

Retired and non-active EEA nationals don’t require a long-stay visa before moving to Greece, but a residence permit is necessary and an application should be made within one week of your arrival. This requirement may be abolished in 2005, therefore you should check with the local police after your arrival. Non-EEA nationals require a visa to live in Greece for longer than three months and should make an application to their local Greek consulate well before their planned departure date. Non-employed residents must provide proof (on request) that they have an adequate income or financial resources to live in Greece without working.
